Christmas House Tour 2014 Part 1: The Main Floor

Well it is officially that time of year.  December is here and Christmas is only a short time away. I welcome you to our Christmas home for this year.  I am a bit of a traditionalist with my Christmas decor in the sense that I generally always buy what I love so there aren't huge changes from year to year for my long time followers. The main floor saw the addition of hits of red and some more vintage quirk than previous years. I am enjoying the bits of colour for the season instead of the usually neutral scheme I have done previously.

And now, a deluge mountainesque amount of photos. Enjoy!

my new very old scoop centrepiece for the year. the wonderful man that sold it to me and sells me a lot of the things in my home laughed when i told him what i wanted this for.

my christmas elf. he follows me everywhere and is such a good poser. he also happens to love the tops of plastic ornaments for chewing. fun franklin fact.

i have to tell you. my new bathroom was a blast t decorate for christmas. i did this room first and had a great time adding the vintage ornaments and natural touches. the only excess colour comes from the bowl of balls sitting over the tub shown below

Well thanks for visiting and everyone and hunting through that massive amount of photos. There were quite a few I took out just so this post didn't crash everyone's computer and after the complete tour I will do an outtakes post with some more detail shots because who can't get enough of Christmas house tours in blogland. Not me anyways.

I also want to give a little shout out to the man that makes all of this possible. We have been married 9 years today and are enjoying our anniversary together today. He is my constant support, strength, encouragement and tension that makes me Me and completes this life of mine in every way possible.

Have a fantastic day,

  3. "Adieu" means "goodbye" in French. I think you mean, "without further ado", which means without further fanfare or fuss. It happens often.

  6. Meg, I really think you have the most fun bathroom of any of my bloggers, I always love looking at these photos of it. The rest of your house is just so wonderfully welcoming of the holidays to come. I hope you enjoy every minute of it!!

  7. Happy Anniversary! Your home tours have become my most anticipated and especially at Christmas. I was just looking through the photos of last year's tour again this past weekend. The stack of green and white benches are perfect ! Love the addition of the colourful balls. I agree with Cassie, you are a master of layers and vignettes too. My biggest take away idea today is to repeat a favourite colour (like your green) in everyday collections and have them be an integral part of your holiday decor without being 'ornaments' (the green books, the green sofa pillows, the benches, the bottles etc.) Love the volume of photos (thank you!) and I look forward to seeing more areas of your home and the outtakes. Enjoy your evening.

  8. Oh Meg, I swoon! I wonder if other people pore over your photos with a notebook and pencil like I do. I've learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing your world. Lisa (Fluffy Butt Farm)

  10. BTW, idk if you have World Market stores in Canada, but they have some nice green tree candles this year (lighter green), if you're interested. Yours look similar to the ones I had once purchased at Target. Love both kinds!

  12. Oh my goodness, can I just shop your house for some Christmas decor? Love every bit of it, especially your old pocket doors in your dining room - those are just gorgeous and such an eye catcher. All of it is stunning. Thanks for sharing!

Leave me a note. I'd love to hear from you.
Unless you're being less than friendly, then play like the rabbit and say nothing!
