Late summer and keeping a sign

Happy Labour Day Monday everyone.

We are enjoying a day off of the working world today and working on garage prep for the show on October 5. I see lots of insulation in my future today.

Last week I finally got up the nerve after reading what feels like a million reviews to get myself a new camera. I am planning on doing a little review post about my choice after I muck around with it a bit more and show some comparison shots with my old point and shoot and now new compact mirrorless Sony NEX-5R.
The photos in this post were shot with the new camera and the difference is night and day so far and I have only ventured into the kit lens.

Instead of furniture before and afters today we are hopping back inside the house to the dining room for a late summer tablescape and to see the sign I snagged for myself.

I know most bloggers are going full bore into fall decor and pumpkins etc. but I really love summer, ridiculous heat and all so the plaid blankets don't make their way out until later in the week. I am going to enjoy my shells for just a few more days.

i haven't been shopping much for myself lately (except for the camera of course) but saw this fabulous half barrel antique planter on etsy from here and had to have it. it is unusual and rustic, my perfect combo. i added a topiary lemon cypress with a burlap wrapping for the simplest table i think we have ever had here.

i then followed my rules a little too much with the "if it wouldn't be something i would put in my own home, i won't sell it" because i made myself one of these vintage paint barnboard signs and hung it in my kitchen in my own home. you could really get a hoarding personality that way.

a new squirrel has made it's way into our home and i guess is a little fall like in its own right. it makes Trevor smile because of his squirrel fetish.

this is definitely one of the kind of shots where i really notice the difference with my old camera. i can actually see the item in the foreground. i have a new problem now though. driving everyone including my pets nuts taking photos of them all the time.

Have a great day,
Time to go get itchy,

  13. It's still warm here also so I haven't even thought of changing things over to fall yet. I'll be happy to enjoy a couple more weeks of summer. Your dinning room is such a lovely room, you've done an amazing job decorating it.

  14. Okay, you HAVE to stop doing this. We must be so in tune...nearly every link party I visit (which are few and far between at the mo' during rare kiddy nap times) I click on a post which takes me to your site! Stop making me want to have your house! You live far too far away for me to sneak in and steal your décor!
