Smattering of green

A  smattering of green makes everything feel more springy/summery.
Our upstairs hall got a spruce (get it, spruces are green) a few weeks ago but I haven't gotten around to posting about it.  I took the grainsack off the table and added the baskets and suitcases back in.

the green demijohn is getting a boost from a huge foundry mold.

i found the gold owl bottle at an antique store for 50 cents. it used to be some sort of AVON bottle. it's quirky.

Have a great EARTH day

Before & After

The relationship continues with Kijiji, and it brings a before and after today. I wanted/ needed another chair in our living room but not something new. Bring in the ugly floral.

BEFORE
floral fabric and high varnish maple legs. I got excited and started stripping the legs before I thought to take the before picture.

AFTER
new upholstery fabric in grey/green velvet and sripped legs. I love how this turned out. it was the first chair I had upholstered and it was a great experience.

plus a little vignette for inspiration

Have a great day

It started with an innocent morning of reading blogs.

This was not on my agenda of things to do. It happened as I was flipping through my blog list and reading the goings on. I clicked on My Sweet Savannah and it happened. BAM. I NEED ONE OF THOSE.

This is the picture. Look at that shelf and super organization.
I didn't go all out with the chalkboard paint or pretty cleaning supplies but boy, a beaut for the organizational crazies like me.

This is my version. I picked it up at Target and I love it. For those who cannot make a trip over the border, I also found one of these over the door pantry racks at Bed, Bath and Beyond online.

Have a great day

Meg

I hope this inspires someone to organize their closet too.

It's a love/hate relationship

Today (or Thursday night rather) it is a whole lot closer to love, with Kijiji that is.
We welcomed 2 of  these Eddie Bauer club chairs into our home. There are 2 identical, 1 is finding a home in our basement. Anyone who has ever looked for genuine leather club chairs knows the frustration of the price tag that always accompanies them. These guys retail for 1500.00 a piece. Yikes!
Now don't hate me, they were 200.00 for both. START THE CAR!!!!!

plus a sneak peek at the new living room wall colour. we LOVE how it turned out but, have some finishing details to add before the reveal.

Have a good day

It's Happening

It's finally happening. right now as this is posted. This lovely creature is painting my living room as I paint window frames. After 2 years of gently prodding, complaining, whining and gosh lets just say it, mentally flogging; THE GOLD IS LEAVING MY LIVING ROOM WALLS.

my living room now looks like this. utter beautiful chaos. yup that's also my dog getting comfy in her soon to be gone sectional (replaced with an ikea white slipcover sectional. our current couch was disappointing for the money and quality of cushions.)

Gotta go now before I get yelled at, wish me luck.

Oh yeah, Happy Easter everyone

March cleaning brings April flowers {in the kitchen}

Yesterday was major indoor cleaning day. That warm weather I mentioned previously has temporarily disappeared so, I added the elbow grease and decided to do a major clean of our house (not just the usual vacuum and dust)
I needed a little break after the kitchen so, why not play with the camera and show the pretty flowers off.

the wine barrel laden with croissants and flowers

plus a bunny and some moss since it is almost Easter

yellows and green make a lovely bouquet and match some yellow orchids in their champagne bucket. i love adding in the little birds and bunnies. a little whimsical flair.

Are you getting into your spring cleaning yet?
