Rustic wide plank floors

Last fall, our renovation adventures took us to ripping up an uneven and peachy tile floor in our front hall. The decision was tossing between tile and wood and the wide plank wood floors won out.

We ended up with the following:

This picture and the following one show the previous owners posessions but, give a good idea of the space and the tile that was removed.

demo day (handy helper #1, my brother. doesn't he look impressed?)

Completion! The floors were purchased from Home Depot in plain pine wide plank tongue and groove. They were installed on top of a new subfloor using a brad nailer. We stained them after installation and left them. No shiny finish here.
The Ikea glass cabinet holds a few of our travel finds and some rustic pulleys for display. The giraffe painting above the cabinet is an Edward Spera "Amongst the Thorns"

front table and mirror. the green toolbox was in Trevor's family and the cream can was found at a local antique store from a local farm.

Overall, we are extremely happy with the rustic results. The floor has to washed and the dried immediately as it has no varathane but, ah being a slave to the looks of the floor.
It's worth it.

Have a good day
