Spring and a visitor to boot

Good springy morning!
Short post as I need to go outside and be refreshed with my garden. Long work shifts drained me this week and I think I sucked up everyones bad energy. Nothing like flowers and branches to cheer up a person. I am in the process of planting every type of tree that I like its branches for decorating. There is golden willow, curly willow (gold and brown), magnolia, redbud, forsythia, pussy willow, white birch, sand cherry, nootka and lastly dogwood. Did I miss any? Helps to be self sufficient I think..........

a teensy view of my dining room with my spring stick collection. although the magnolias aren't open in the picture, they look lovely now

This young fella strutted through my backyard as I pretended he couldn't see me. You should have been there, I was stealth-like. Notice I didn't get very close as he high-tailed it outta there after about 5 min. Pun intended, their tails stick straight out when they run. Then my battery died. Then he came out of the bush and looked at me. Then I had a few choice words for him.....

I was featured, and some before and afters

So excited, I woke up walked to my computer, checked out some of the updates for blogs and was rolling through the furniture feature on Miss Mustard Seed and wow someone else has a bamileke container (a rather uncommon African artifact i have collected) too... oh my gosh that's my chair. How cool. I must say after only a month, I am thoroughly enjoying blogging. So many ideas.

Have you ever felt like you could live in certain stores? Is it just me? These stores I speak of give you the sense that you could just sit down and be content with your surroundings forever. Pottery Barn is one of those for me but, I recently came across 2 blogs about the publisher's stores and got that feeling of hand me my glass of vino and I'll find myself a footstool while you go put Stan Getz on.
Curious? Check out The Vintage Rose
I am really loving these marble pears:

The other store is The Curious Sofa

Check it out, someone already packed for me with all my french linens. Wonderful. Both of these stores are much to far away for me to visit but the dream and the joy of blog shopping.

Back in my house, the last piece of my laundry room pie arrived in the mail (wall decal from Surface Flick on etsy in my native Canada)

BEFORE(its ok you can say it, hideous.)

Just a little side note: house on the prairie border had already been removed and 2 gigantic unreachable wall cabinets above the washer and dryer removed. This room was my joy in purchasing the house "Yeah! main floor laundry" and then the bane of my existence because I had to store everything on the counters because I couldn't reach. Messy!

i love this light fixture. it is actually a plug in fixutre i had my handy husband rewire to hardwire and i just made a jute webbing cord cover. very industrial chic i think.

Well that's all for today, off to reenter the world.

Sharon Montrose a must have for animal lovers!

Wow, up and at 'em early today. Last night as I was doing my daily ebay-etsy cruise, checking my shop etc. I stumbled on the etsy blog and saw one of my favorite photographers, Sharon Montrose was featured and had a video of her creative process. Here it is for your enjoyment:

If you are at all into photography, animals or just want to see some really awesome art, this is her shop: and she also has 2 prints available on 20x200:

I am coveting a not yet released photo of this flamingo and hopefully one day a larger limited edition.
